Episode 2 - Earth House Hold by Gary Snyder

In this, the real Snyder Cut, we discuss the legacy of the “poet laureate of Deep Ecology,” Pulitzer Prize winner, Gary Snyder. Snyder was a writer, activist and anarchoprimitivist. Now if you're like me and have no idea what that means, Casey helps break down what Snyder meant by encouraging this lifestyle. According to Snyder, he “hold[s] the most archaic values on earth. They go back to the late Paleolithic; the fertility of the soil, the magic of animals, the power-vision in solitude, the terrifying intuition and rebirth; the love and ecstasy of the dance, the common work of the tribe." Quite a lot to unpack. Talking points include American poetry, Deep Ecology, sustainability, anarchy, anarchoprimitivism, the meaning of progress, the role of technology and much more! This was a big one for us and we’re excited to share it. If you’d like to discuss, leave a comment below, or find us on Instagram.
